[edit] Description

This is the navigation menu box for the Free Repair Campaign for Apple 17inch PowerBooks mini Wiki.

• The top most pastel blue section contains the title of the Wiki, and a link to its Main Page
  • On a regular page in this Wiki, you can click on the one-letter 'v' link in the menu box's top right corner to view this page
• The middle sandy coloured section contains links to all the pages in this Wiki
• The bottom most pastel green section contains three useful utility links

[edit] Creating a new page

For convenience, this section closely follows a section of the same name at Your Contributions.

Because of the way wikis work, this may seem strangely backward: choose a short name for your new page, make a link to your new page, create the page by clicking the link, copy common page features over, and then finally write your new page. But it's easy, and... it works! And if you'd like our Campaign Mascot to put in an appearance on your new page, let Dalinian know what you think Knut would say.

1. Choose a short name for your new page - take a look at the middle section of the navigation menu box (top right) for examples; if you'd like a longer more explanatory title, you can make this a heading at the top of the page - see Diagnosis, for example
2. Decide where your page fits - take a look at the navigation menu box, and pick where your new page will be in the middle section
3. Edit the navigation menu box and insert a link to your new page
   • Click on the edit tab at the top of this page - or better still, open it for editing in a new tab (or a new window)
   • Follow the pattern you'll find at the top of the editing box, between [[Campaign Discussions]] and [[Acknowledgements]]. Note that your new page link should be the short name you choose in step 1 enclosed by [[double square brackets]], and separated by the <br> line break code.
   • Test your change with the [ Show preview ] button, and tweak it if necessary
   • When your happy with the way the modified navigation menu box looks, use the [ Save page ] button to confirm it.
4. Click on the link to your new page (in red underlined text, by default), in the newly modified navigation menu box, to actually create your new page - or better still, open it for editing in a new tab (or a new window)
5. Copy-and-paste the common page items below to your new page's editing box, then you're ready to start writing the content of your new page

• right-click (or ctrl+cick on a Mac) on your new page's edit tab at the top of the page, to bring up a context pop-up menu
• choose Copy Link Location (or similar) to copy the edit tab's link to the clipboard
• double-click on copyAndPasteLinkLocationFromEditTab to select it
• paste the link from the clipboard (Ctrl+V, or command+V on a Mac)

• Then your last line will look something like...
