Tennessee was the sixteenth state to join the United States of America. Nashville is the capital, yet the largest city is Memphis.

Tennessee has 8 border states: Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri. Tennesee holds the title of bordering the most states in America, but it is also tied with Missouri. Tennessee is divided into three parts by the Tennessee River: East, Middle, and West Tennessee. Tennessee is also divided by six geographical features. Those features are the Blue Ridge, the Appalachian Ridge and Valley, the Cumberland Plateua, the Highland Rim, the Nashville Basin, and the Gulf Coastal Plain. In addition to having the most states bordering it, Tennessee has the most caves registered with over 8,350 caves to date.
