This scientific institute was established in 2024CE by the Terra Nova Consortium, namely the space agencies of the Japanese - Korean Economic Union and the United States of the Americas. Its initial mission was to coordinate the scientific investigations related to the Origins I Survey. The institute acted as program administrator and data repository for all of the survey data collected. This mission was expanded once to include the data collected by the Terra Nova probes, and once again to include the data from the second Origins survey and the second Terra Nova probes.
Beginning in 2130 CE the mission scope of the Institute was once again expanded to collect, organize, analyze, and coordinate the results of the manned exploratory missions. The Institute continued to perform its mission until it was assimilated by the Charter Colonial Office in 2300 CE.
