Transcript

  • Alec Baldwin: One morning, Virgil was moving Beedrill full of thistles to the nearest side of the railway. He placed them on a siding, and carried them carefully onto the platform of Maithwaithe Station. He had done the same thing over ten times, but it wasn't an interesting way to spend the whole afternoon and he had nothing to do about it.
  • Virgil: It sure would be nice to see someone come by for a visit.
  • Alec Baldwin: Virgil thought to himself.
  • Virgil: No other character will, of course. They'll never do anything, and why should they?
  • Alec Baldwin: Just then, Terry puffed by with the express.
  • Terry: Hello, Virgil!
  • Alec Baldwin: He called.
  • Virgil: Hello to you, Terry.
  • Alec Baldwin: Whistled Virgil.
  • Virgil: This is quite a surprise! No one on the Land of YTV ever comes to see me, not that I would blame them. This is your visit, isn't it?
  • Alec Baldwin: He asked hopefully.
  • Terry: Of course it is, Virgil!
  • Alec Baldwin: Grinned Terry.
  • Terry: Express characters like me like doing all kinds of shunting stuff, like Beedrill for example. I wasn't interrupting anyone, am I? You weren't doing any special delivery, were you?
  • Virgil: Me?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked Virgil.
  • Virgil: Not really. I'm just moving these Beedrill full of thistles on a siding. Would you like to accept your teamwork on shunting?
  • Alec Baldwin: Terry was confused.
  • Terry: You need to get more thistles unless an express character pulls Beedrill full of thistles.
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Terry: Now, let me see.
  • Alec Baldwin: Terry thought for a moment.
  • Terry: What you need...
  • Alec Baldwin: He said.
  • Terry: ...is to pull the express like me. It's the only job on the Island, and you can be as fast as me.
  • Virgil: Well, Terry.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Virgil.
  • Virgil: You may be good at express, but I'm not. Besides, if I tried to pull the express, the passengers will get bumpy. They always do, you know. And then where would I be?
  • Alec Baldwin: Before Terry could reply, Al arrived with a train full of vegetables.
  • Al: Hello, Virgil. Nice to see you.
  • Alec Baldwin: Tooted Al.
  • Virgil: Hello to you, Al.
  • Alec Baldwin: Answered Virgil.
  • Virgil: You look like if you were in a good afternoon, and I doubt it.
  • Terry: Well, hello there, little Al.
  • Alec Baldwin: Called Terry.
  • Al: Are you out for your afternoon express, Terry?
  • Alec Baldwin: Al asked.
  • Terry: Exactly!
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Terry.
  • Terry: And I was just telling Virgil here that he should try it, especially since he needs to get his Beedrill out and do something.
  • Al: Then he should try to pull my train.
  • Alec Baldwin: Suggested Al.
  • Al: It's quite a good run, you know. I should highly recommend it.
  • Alec Baldwin: Virgil thought about pulling his train of vegetables. But what kind of these?
  • Virgil: This train of vegetables?
  • Alec Baldwin: He asked.
  • Virgil: Wouldn't it be nice to pull it?
  • Al: Why yes of course, Virgil.
  • Alec Baldwin: Replied Al.
  • Al: That's the very best train of vegetables there is.
  • Virgil: Never mind, Al.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Virgil.
  • Virgil: I don't like Beedrill full of vegetables very much. Not at all, actually, but thanks for suggesting it.
  • Terry: I don't even get the blame, little Al.
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuckled Terry.
  • Terry: What kind of fun is working in a train of vegetables, anyway?
  • Al: Oh really?!
  • Alec Baldwin: Snapped Al, as he bashed his Beedrill full of vegetables hard.
  • Al: And what's so great about your silly express trains?! Tell me that!
  • Virgil: Does anybody want to know that I...
  • Alec Baldwin: Began Virgil, but before he can finish, Terry and Al were so busy arguing that they forgot that Virgil was there, too.
  • Rikochet: What's all this fuss?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked a very small voice. Virgil, Terry and Al looked back. It was Rikochet.
  • Al: Let's ask Rikochet right now.
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Al.
  • Rikochet: Ask me what?
  • Alec Baldwin: Wondered Rikochet.
  • Al: Virgil needs to get some Beedrill full of thistles out of a siding, and we're looking forward for him to go out and do, like pulling a train of vegetables.
  • Terry: Or pulling the express.
  • Alec Baldwin: Put in Terry.
  • Al: Which job should Virgil go out and do?
  • Alec Baldwin: Al asked.
  • Rikochet: It's easy.
  • Alec Baldwin: Answered Rikochet.
  • Rikochet: When Ash and I have nothing special planned, we can go out on a long explore. It's always exciting.
  • Terry: Not an explore, Rikochet!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Terry crossly.
  • Terry: He'll get lost for miles!
  • Al: Besides, Rikochet.
  • Alec Baldwin: Added Al indignantly.
  • Al: It's too late for him to begin a long explore. It would be dark before he can find his way to the sheds.
  • Terry: Exactly!
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Terry.
  • Terry: Pulling the express is a much better idea!
  • Al: No, Terry!
  • Alec Baldwin: Snapped Al.
  • Al: He needs a train of vegetables!
  • Terry: I told you, he needs the express!
  • Alec Baldwin: Terry snapped back. Poor Rikochet sighed.
  • Rikochet: I guess that idea wasn't so good to me after all.
  • Alec Baldwin: He muttered. Virgil went unhappily to a siding to find his Beedrill. He was sorry to see Terry and Al fighting, especially over him.
  • Virgil: I wish I would know how to make my friends happy.
  • Alec Baldwin: He thought. Just then, Ash arrived with Suzy and Pietra.
  • Ash: A party!
  • Alec Baldwin: Chuffed Ash excitedly.
  • Ash: What fun! Am I invited, Rikochet?
  • Ash: It's not a party, Ash.
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet replied.
  • Rikochet: It's more like a fight. Virgil needs to get out more, and Terry thinks he should pull the express, but Al thinks he should pull a train of vegetables, and I told Virgil to go on a long explore. It's no use, Ash.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed Rikochet unhappily.
  • Rikochet: We just can't agree.
  • Ash: Oh dear.
  • Alec Baldwin: Exclaimed Ash.
  • Ash: That doesn't look interesting to me at all. I wonder what Steven would suggest.
  • Alec Baldwin: Unfortunately, Steven wasn't around to suggest anything, so Terry, Al and Rikochet went on arguing, while Virgil pushed his Beedrill full of thistles for the rest of the day.
  • Ash: All this fighting sure makes me starved.
  • Alec Baldwin: Sighed Ash.
  • Ash: I've got something up to my head, Virgil. I don't suppose you'd have some more Beedrill hidden somewhere, would you? Otherwise, I think I'll just have to go back to the sheds and see if I can find a little something in my coaches.
  • Rikochet: That's it!
  • Alec Baldwin: Rikochet said excitedly.
  • Rikochet: A picnic! Why don't we all go on it, Virgil? That would be a great idea to get out and do, wouldn't it?
  • Ash: Why, that's a great deal, Rikochet!
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Ash.
  • Terry: Yeah!
  • Alec Baldwin: Agreed Terry.
  • Terry: I could pull the express all the way there.
  • Al: And I could bring Beedrill full of vegetables for the railway.
  • Alec Baldwin: Said Al.
  • Ash: And I could go and fetch the picnic supplies for dessert.
  • Alec Baldwin: Added Ash.
  • Rikochet: Well, Virgil. What do you think?
  • Alec Baldwin: Asked Rikochet.
  • Virgil: That's not such a terrible idea, but at least it's better than all this fighting.
  • Alec Baldwin: Admitted Virgil. Later, all the characters met up for their picnic. Everyone seemed pleased, except Rikochet. He still wanted to go out on a long explore, but Virgil knew that it would soon be too dark.
  • Virgil: You know.
  • Alec Baldwin: Virgil said to everyone.
  • Virgil: I think we should all go on a short explore when we finish our picnic. Rikochet, would you and Ash lead us? That way we won't get lost.
  • Rikochet: Sure, Virgil.
  • Alec Baldwin: Grinned Rikochet. When Virgil looked around his circle of smiling characters, he couldn't help but smile as well, in spite of himself.
