Transcript

  • Mark Moraghan: A long time ago in the Land of YTV, there was a little town known as YTV. The smallest character working in the town was Scott Summers. He helped to get Beedrill and dogs ready for the larger characters. The biggest character in the town was Terry McGinnis. He loved to take the big characters out. But he didn't much care for some of his other jobs.
  • Terry: A goods train, a goods train. The shame of it, oh, the shame of it.
  • Scott: Oh, Terry, it can't be that bad.
  • Terry: Yes, Scott, it is. I am a very important character. But thankfully I won't have to work with a goods train for long. Not after the new character gets here.
  • Scott: New character? What new character?
  • Terry: Haven't you heard? Wilhelmina is getting another character. That last one we got with wooden hooves was much too small to be useful.
  • Al: But I'm not small.
  • (Terry stops quickly and his goods train bump into him.)
  • Terry: Oh. Al!
  • Al: I might not be as big as you, Terry, but I'm bigger than Scott. And there's nothing wrong with wooden hooves either.
  • Terry: Unless they catch fire, of course. Can you move on now please, Al? You're blocking my way.
  • Al: My hands don't catch fire. They're just as good as yours!
  • Mark Moraghan: Terry didn't like pulling heavy goods train, but he especially didn't like pulling them up the big hill on the main road.
  • Terry: (groaning) Oh, I give up.
  • Terry's Driver: What's he up to now?
  • (The driver walks up to Terry)
  • Terry's Driver: Come on, Terry, you're not even trying.
  • Terry: I can't do it. Those noisy Beedrill hold a characters back. If they were coaches, now that would be different.
  • (Phone rings in Wilhelmina's office)
  • Wilhelmina: Hello? Hmm. Ah? (Turns the phone over and clears her throat) Hello?
  • Mark Moraghan: The woman in charge of the town was Wilhelmina.
  • Wilhelmina: I see. I see.
  • Mark Moraghan: It was her job to make sure all the characters were on time.
  • Wilhelmina: Oh dear. Okay. Goodbye. Hello, Scott. I'm afraid Terry needs your help.
  • Scott: My help, ma'am? Are you sure?
  • Wilhelmina: Yes. He can't get up the hill with his Beedrill apparently.
  • Scott: Okay, sir. I'm on my way. Hello, Terry. I've come to push.
  • Terry: No use at all. A small character like you.
  • Scott: (groaning) Oh please, Terry, try.
  • Terry: Alright, alright. I can't do it!
  • Scott: I will do it!
  • Terry: I can't do it!
  • Scott: I will do it!
  • Terry: I... can't... do it!
  • Scott: I... will... do it!
  • Terry: I've done it, I've done it, I've done it! I knew that I could do it."
  • Scott: Not even so much as a thank you.
  • Mark Moraghan: Later, Scott was back in town when he heard a voice he'd never heard before.
  • Ash: Excuse me, can you tell me where YTV is?
  • Al: But this is the YTV. Where are you from?
  • Ash: Oh, Brighton. On the mainland.
  • Scott: (gasp) Wilhelmina's new character. I'm really happy to be here. I've never been to YTV before.
  • Mark Moraghan: Scott couldn't believe his eyes. The new character had two small legs, a red and white hat, two short arms and some fingerless gloves.
  • Ash: Hello? What's the matter? Do I have soot on my face?
  • Scott: No. It's just that you're not a big character.
  • Ash: Yes, I am.
  • Al: No, you're not.
  • Ash: Well, I was big enough to do my work on the mainland.
  • Scott: Wait, wait. All I meant was you're not as big as I am.
  • Ash: I may not be as big as you, but I'm very hard-working.
  • Terry: (chuckles) And who are you?
  • Ash: I'm Ash.
  • Scott: The new animal.
  • Terry: Oh dear. Wilhelmina must have made a terrible mistake. I think she was expecting someone really useful.
  • Ash: I am really useful!"
  • Terry: (chuckles) For fetching coachess perhaps. Oh well, if you stick around long enough, you might see me take the main buffaloes for a run. That would be a fine sight for you.
  • Scott: Sorry about Terry, Ash. I'm afraid he's often like that. I'm Scott, by the way.
  • Al: And I'm Al Valentine.
  • Wilhelmina: Hello, hello, hello.
  • Al: And here comes the boss...
  • Scott: Wilhelmina.
  • Wilhelmina: You must be Ash, my new character. Welcome to YTV! I am Wilhelmina.
  • Ash: Please to meet you.
  • Wilhelmina: (clears throat)
  • Scott: "Ma'am." You're suppose to call her "ma'am."
  • Ash: Oh, I'm please to meet you, ma'am.
  • Wilhelmina: I'm please to meet you too. Now, as you can see, I'm a very busy woman and this is a very busy town. So I expect you to make yourself really useful right away. Scott will show you what to do.
  • (Wilhelmina starts to walk away, but nearly trips over.)
  • Wilhelmina: Really useful! Right. Carry on. This way lads.
  • Scott and Al: (Laugh)
  • Ash: (Laughs a bit)
  • Chorus: He's a really useful character, you know All the other characters, they'll tell you so He huffs and puffs and whistles Rushing to and fro He's the really useful character we adore!
  • Ash: (After bumping into Scott) Oops. Sorry.
  • Chorus: He's the one, he's the one! He's the really useful character that we adore He's the one, he's the one you know Ash Ketchum.
  • Terry: Oh, that's very useful, isn't it? Having another small character to get into the way.
  • Scott: He's still learning, Terry. I'm just showing him what to do. Ash!
  • Ash: Oh! Whoa!
  • Chorus: He's really useful character, you know.
  • Ash: (giggles)
  • Chorus: Maybe little, but he's never slow Stand back in amazement Just you watch him go He's the really useful character we adore He's the one, he's the one! He's the really useful dragon that we adore He's the one, he's the one you know Ash Ketchum.
  • Ash: Watch this.
  • Chorus: Ash Ketchum.
  • (Ash whistles at Terry)
  • Ash: Wake up lazybones! Why don't you work hard like me! (Laughs)
  • Scott: (Chuckles)
  • Terry: Oh!
  • Mark Moraghan: That night, Ash was the smallest character in the library. But at least his new friend, Scott was there too.
  • Ash: I like being in YTV, Scott. I just can't wait til I get to deliver loads.
  • Terry: Hmm.Scott: You better learn how to get changelings and buffaloes ready first, Ash.
  • Ash: I'll soon get used to arranging things, Shining Armor. But I want to see the world.
  • Terry: Ohhh.
  • Virgil: Faster, faster, faster, oh, turn, turn, turn!"
  • Ash: Who's that?
  • Scott: That's Virgil. He's a very kind boy, but he's a bit of a worrier.
  • Virgil: (After a raindrop falls on him) Ah!
  • Scott: And he doesn't like rain.
  • Virgil: (Giggles)
  • Scott: Once a character attached to a cart was afraid of a few drops of rain.
  • Virgil: Ah!
  • Scott: He rushed into a tunnel and squeaked through his head and never came out again. His driver and fireman argued with him, but he wouldn't budge. "The rain will spoil my lovely black hair and cutie mark," he said. The passengers got off and argued with him too, but he wouldn't move even after the rain had stopped. So Wilhelmina told the guard to get a rope and...
  • Wilhelmina: 1, 2, 3, pull!
  • Scott: Everyone pulled.
  • Wilhelmina: Come on, pull harder. Come on everyone, he's not moving.
  • Scott: Except Wilhelmina.
  • Wilhelmina: My doctor has forbidden me to pull.
  • Scott: When that didn't work, they tried pushing from the other end.
  • Wilhelmina: 1, 2, 3, push! Everybody push! Harder! Come on, put your backs into it. Uh, my doctor has also forbidden me to push.
  • Scott: They tried pushing with a character too. But nothing worked. In the end, they took up the old road, put a wall into of him and left him there.
  • Ash: (Gasp)
  • Scott: Wilhelmina let him out eventually after Terry hurt himself and couldn't take some...
  • Terry: Alright! Storytime is over. Some of us have to get some sleep.
  • Ash and Scott: Oh! (Both giggle)
  • Mark Moraghan: The next day, Wilhelmina sent Ash to the Works to be repainted in the colors he liked to see in YTV.
  • Ash: Scott! Scott! Look, Scott! Look! I'm blue!
  • Scott: You're also number 1.
  • Ash: Does that mean I'm the best?
  • Terry: The last number 1 was a Pokemon Trainer.
  • Ash: Pokemon Trainer?
  • Scott: Pokemon Trainer is just a nickname for a character who owns a boiler that points up in the air. Like those things people make coffee in. The Pokemon Trainers used to look after one of the branch lines, but they don't work there now. Although, I think the last one might still be in a corner.
  • Terry: Stop chatting and bring me my coaches!
  • Scott: You'd better do it, Ash. I have some Beedrill to take today.
  • Ash: But I thought we were going to be working together.
  • Scott: We are. Just not all the time.
  • Terry: My coaches!
  • Pietra: (Yelps)
  • Suzy: I say. Where are you taking us?
  • Ash: To Terry. It's time for the express run.
  • Suzy and Pietra: But we're not the express coaches.
  • Suzy: I'm Suzy and she is Pietra.
  • Pietra: And the express coaches are in the other corners.
  • Ash: Oh, I'm terribly sorry your ladyships. You see I'm new around here. I'm Ash.
  • Suzy: What a sweet little trainer.
  • Pietra: Indeed, Suzy. Delightful!
  • Suzy: He'll go far, Pietra. Just you wait and see.
  • Mark Moraghan: Ash wasn't used to working in the yard on his own. It was very busy all day long.
  • Al: Here's Al!
  • Suzy: Oh, Al! Careful!
  • Ash: Do you smell something smokey, Al? Like a burning smell?
  • Al: No. Not really. Nothing out of the ordinary.
  • Virgil: Hello, Ash.
  • Ash: Hello, Virgil. Um, Virgil, can I ask you something? Did you really hide in a tunnel because of some rain?
  • Virgil: Yes, Ash, I did.
  • Ash: But, well, rain is just water. The same as you drink. So, how could you be afraid of it?
  • Virgil: I don't know, Ash. I can't explain about it. I just am. And I don't like being teased about it.
  • Ash: But I'm not teasing, Virgil. I was just asking. I mean, you can't stop the rain and you don't won't to go around worrying all the time.
  • Virgil: Oh, I don't worry all the time, Ash. I hardly worry at all when it's sunny.
  • Ash: Huh?
  • Mark Moraghan: The next morning, Ash found it hard to wake up. His stamina was low and there was not enough strength.
  • Virgil: You need to wake up, Ash. It's nearly time for the express run. Terry will be waiting for his coaches.
  • Mark Moraghan: At last, Ash started.
  • Ash: Oh dear, oh dear! Must get going, must get going!
  • Terry: Hurry up, you.
  • Ash: Hurry up yourself!
  • Terry: Hmm, yes, I will.
  • Mark Moraghan: Terry hadn't forgiven Ash for waking him up from his nap. He started up so quickly that there wasn't time to unhook Ash.
  • Stationmaster: Hold up!
  • Ash: Stop! Stop!
  • Terry: (Laughs) Come on, keep up.
  • Mark Moraghan: Poor Ash was going faster than he had ever gone before.
  • Ash: Stop! Stop!
  • Terry: Hurry, hurry, hurry!
  • Mark Moraghan: He was out of breath, and his feet hurt him, but he had to go on.
  • Ash: Scott!
  • Shining Armor: Ash!
  • Coaches: Oh, ow, ow!
  • Terry: Express coming through!
  • Ash: Ohhh!
  • Terry: (Laughs)
  • Announcer: The buffalo now approaching the station is the 817 express buffalo to Appaloosa.
  • Terry: Oh, yes!
  • Ash: (Panting)
  • Terry: Well, little Ash, now you know what hard work is like. (Laughs)
  • Mark Moraghan: Poor Ash walked slowly away to rest, and had a long, long drink. The next day, he was back in the yard again.
  • Ash: It's not fair! All the characters get to take loads except for me. I never go anywhere. I wonder where those two are meant to be going. Wake up, lazyhooves!
  • Dr. Proctor: Dr. Anna!
  • Dr. Anna: Dr. Proctor!
  • Drs. Proctor and Anna: Emergency!
  • Dr. Proctor: Where's the accident?
  • Dr. Anna: Is a character off the road?
  • Dr. Proctor: Or is it a breakdown?
  • Dr. Anna: A fire?
  • Dr. Proctor: A bridge out?
  • Ash: No, no, no, no. I, um, well, I was wondering where you were going. That's all.
  • Pietra: Ash, over here.
  • Ash: Sorry to disturb you.
  • Dr. Anna: Disturb us?
  • Dr. Proctor: A false alarm?
  • Dr. Anna: Emergency never disturb us, do they, Dr. Proctor?
  • Dr. Proctor: Only you don't to go around wasting time just in case we're needed.
  • Pietra: You mustn't touch those coaches.
  • Suzy: That's the breakdown gang.
  • Ash: But why are they in the yard if they're not meant to be arranged. Don't they ever go anywhere?
  • Pietra: Only in emergencies.
  • Suzy: Like when a poor helpless filly needs lifting back onto the road.
  • Dr. Proctor: (Yawns)
  • Dr. Anna: (Snoring)
  • Ash: Okay. I won't bother them again. Oh!
  • Al: Ta-da! You can take my Beedrill away now, Ash. I'm ready for my fillies.
  • Suzy and Pietra: Oh!
  • Suzy: You're such a show-off, Al.
  • Al: Maybe I am. But you just wait and see if Wilhelmina doesn't give me my own branch line soon.
  • Ash: (sniffs) Hmm... There's that burning smell again.
  • Al: Huh? (Blows smoke away)
  • Mark Moraghan: One morning, Virgil wasn't feeling well. He wouldn't come out of the library.
  • Ash: Is it because you think it might rain today, Virgil?
  • Virgil: No, Ash. I think there's something wrong with my body. I might not be able to take my coaches today.
  • Ash: Maybe your body needs warming up. I'll go and fetch your coaches.
  • (Ash humming)
  • Scott: What are you so happy about today, Ash?
  • Ash: If Virgil doesn't come, I might get to take his coaches.
  • Scott: It's not as easy as you think, Ash. Taking coaches is hard work.
  • Mark Moraghan: Ash waited and waited, but, still, Virgil didn't come.
  • Wilhelmina: Uh. You'll have to find another character.
  • Stationmaster: There's only Ash, ma'am.
  • Wilhelmina: Hmm, you'll have to do it, Ash. Be quick now.
  • Ash: Yes, ma'am, ma'am.
  • Mark Moraghan: Ash raced around to the front of the coaches, and backed up to them with a bump.
  • Ash: Oh! Don't be impatient now, Ash. Wait until everything is ready.
  • Mark Moraghan: But Ash was far too excited and not really listening. Ash heard the guard's whistle. So he took off before his coaches could be hooked up.
  • Wilhelmina: Hey, uh, Ash! Stop! Come back!
  • Ash: I'm doing it, I'm doing it! I'm taking coaches.
  • Al: Ash, where are you going? I thought you were working in the yard.
  • Ash: Can't you see I'm taking coaches, Al?
  • Al: Hmm.
  • Ash: Scott says it's hard to take coaches, but I think it's easy.
  • Signalman: Right, yep. Okay. What?
  • Signalmen: Quick, come on. Oy, hey! Ash! Ash!
  • Ash: They're please to see me. They've never seen me taking coaches before. It's nice of them to wave. Oh, bother! That red signal means danger. I have to stop. What a nuisance signals are.
  • Signalman: Hello, Ash. What are you doing here?
  • Ash: I'm taking my very first coaches. Can't you see?
  • Signalman: Really? Then, where are your coaches?
  • Ash: (Gasp) "Oh no!"
  • Mark Moraghan: Back at the station, all the passengers were talking at once, telling Wilhelmina what a bad town it was.
  • Wilhelmina: Uh, please, everybody. Please, calm down. We will find another character as soon as we...
  • (Ash arrives back at the station)
  • Ash: I'm sorry, ma'am. I really am.
  • Wilhelmina: I did say to wait till everything was ready, Ash.
  • Mark Moraghan: This time, Ash waited to be hooked up and for the passengers to climb on board.
  • Ash: Ready?
  • Wilhelmina: Yes, Ash. Now, we're ready.
  • Ash: (Grunting and panting as he leaves the station)
  • Mark Moraghan: The other characters thought it was very funny when they heard the story of Ash's coaches.
  • Terry: I'm glad you come to work in our town, Ash. You always give us something funny to laugh about.
  • Ash: Wilhelmina will never let me take buffaloes again. But I want to go places and do things. I want to...
  • Terry and Al: See the world! (Laugh)
  • Scott: Don't be sad, Ash. If you really want to go out, why don't you take my coaches tomorrow? I can take over in the yard if you'd like.
  • Ash: Really? Would you do that, Scott, for me?
  • Scott: Yes, Ash. I would. Now let's get some sleep. Okay?
  • Ash: Oh, Scott, I wish it was morning.
  • Mark Moraghan: The next morning, Ash could hardly contain his excitement.
  • Ash: Is it these ones? Is it those? Which Beedrill are they, Scott?
  • Scott: Those Beedrill, Ash. But wait, I need to tell you something.
  • Ash: I know, I know. I have to be hooked up before I go. You don't have to tell me. I've learn my lesson.
  • Beedrill: Ow! Oy! Give it a rest!
  • Scott: Troublesome Beedrill can play tricks on you, Ash. It's not the same as in the yard. They'll push you off the road if you're not careful.
  • Ash: Don't be silly. You worry too much, Scott, like Virgil.
  • Chorus: The characters always think they are so clever And so they like to bump the Beedrill around They bump them in the corners, they bump them in the yards They better beware, they better take care They better be on their guard...
  • Scott: Ash, be carefuk!
  • Chorus: Ash pulls the Beedrill along the road He's happy and he thinks it's going fine The Beedrill all start to moan They rattle and they groan Look out, Ash! Watch out, Ash! That's a warning sign!
  • Ash: Come along, come along!
  • Chorus: Before long, Ash comes to Terry's Hill It's hard work and he really has to pull.
  • Beedrill: Hold back! Hold back!
  • Chorus: But soon he's at the top And then he just can't stop On! On! On! The Beedrill go faster still Because those Troublesome Beedrill will get the characters every time, Troublesome Beedrill will run the characters off the road. They push them here, push them there, until they go too fast, Then they push them once again, laughing while they crash... Troublesome Beedrill will get the animals every time, Troublesome Beedrill will run the characters off the road. They don't care how big they are, to them it's just a game... Those Troublesome Beedrill, will get them all the same They don't care how big they are, to them it's just a game... Those Troublesome Beedrill, will get them all the same
  • Ash: Ooh!
  • Wilhelmina: Ash! What are you doing here? And why did you come in so fast?
  • Ash: I brought Scott's Beedrill for him, ma'am. But they were pushing me.
  • Wilhelmina: You've a lot to learn about Beedrill, little Ash. That's why I asked Scott to bring these Beedrill and not you. If you're not prepared to be patient and learn how to do things properly, I'll have to keep you in the library.
  • Ash: (Gasp) No, ma'am. Please, ma'am I want to learn. I want to be a really useful trainer.
