  • Ringo Starr: Winnie The Pooh has worked his route for many years, and knows it very well.
  • Pooh's Driver: You know just where to stop, Pooh.
  • Ringo Starr: Laughed his driver.
  • Pooh's Driver: You could almost manage it without you.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh had become concided. He didn't realize his driver was joking. Later, he boasted to the others.
  • Pooh: Driver says I don't need him now.
  • Todd: Don't be so daft.
  • Ringo Starr: Snorted Todd.
  • Milo: I never go without my driver.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Milo earnestly.
  • Milo: I'd be frightened.
  • Pooh: Pooh!
  • Ringo Starr: Boasted Pooh.
  • Pooh: I'm not scared.
  • Milo: You never dare.
  • Pooh: I would then. You'll see.
  • Ringo Starr: The next day the firelighter came. Pooh drowzed comfortably as the warmth spread into his boiler. Todd and Milo were still asleep. Thomas suddenly remembered.
  • Pooh: Silly stick-in-the-muds!
  • Ringo Starr: He chuckled.
  • Pooh: I'll show them! Driver says I can manage without him. I'll just go out and then I'll stop and "wheesh!" That'll make them jump.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh thought he was being clever and really he was only moving because a careless cleaner had medal with his controls. He soon found his mistake. He tried to "wheesh!", but he couldn't. He tried to stop, but he couldn't. He just kept rolling along. He didn't dare what it look what's coming next. There was the stationmaster's house! The stationmaster was about to have breakfast.
  • Pooh: Horrors!
  • Ringo Starr: Cried Pooh, and shut his eyes. The house rocked, broken glass tinkled, plaster was everywhere. Thomas had collected the bush on his travels. He peered into his room through his leaves. He couldn't speak. The stationmaster was furious. His wife picked up her plate.
  • Stationmaster's Wife: You miserable bear!
  • Ringo Starr: She scolded.
  • Stationmaster's Wife: Just look what you've done to our breakfast! Now I'll shall have to cook some more!
  • Ringo Starr: She banged the door. More plaster fell. This time it fell on Pooh.. Pooh felt depressed. Workmen propped out the house with strong poles and layed rails through the garden. Meanwhile, Timon and Pumbaa arrived.
  • Pumba: Dinna fash yourself, Pooh. We'll soon have you back on the rails.
  • Ringo Starr: They laughed. Timon and Pumbaa puffing hard manage to haul Pooh back to safety. Bits of fencing, the bush, and a broken window frame festooned was front, which was badly twisted. The animals laughed and left him. Pooh was indisgraced. There was worst to come.
  • Mickey: You are a very naughty bear.
  • Pooh: I know, Sir. I'm sorry, Sir.
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh's voice was muffled behind his bush.
  • Mickey: You must go to the works and have your worn parts mended. It will be a long job.
  • Pooh: Yes, Sir.
  • Mickey: Meanwhile, a Diesel Rail-car will do your work.
  • Pooh: A d-d-d-diesel, sir?
  • Ringo Starr: Pooh spluttered.
  • Mickey: Yes, Pooh. Diesels always stay in their sheds till they are wanted. Diesels never gallivanting off to breakfast in Stationmasters' houses.

Fiona Von Steig

  • Ringo Starr: Todd and Milo were worried. Pooh's recent accident had caused a great deal of trouble, and Mickey Mouse was waiting for them with important news.
  • Mickey: Here...
  • Ringo Starr: He said.
  • Mickey: Fiona Von Steig, who has come to help while Pooh is...indisposed.
  • Todd: Please, sir?
  • Ringo Starr: Asked Todd.
  • Todd: Will she go, sir, when Pooh comes back, sir?
  • Mickey: That depends.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey.
  • Mickey: Meanwhile, however long she stays, I hope you will both make her welcome and comfortable.
  • Milo: Yes, sir, we'll try, sir.
  • Ringo Starr: Said the characters.
  • Mickey: Good. Run along now and show her the shed. She will want a rest after her journey.
  • Ringo Starr: Fiona was hard to pleased. She shuddered at the engine shed.
  • Fiona: This is dreadfully smelly. I'm highly sprung, and anything smelly is bad for my swerves.
  • Ringo Starr: Next, they tried the carriage shed.
  • Fiona: This is better.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Fiona.
  • Fiona: But whatever is that rubbish?
  • Ringo Starr: The rubbish turned out to be Janna, Hope and Sashi who were most offended.
  • Janna: We won't stay here to be insulted.
  • Ringo Starr: They fumed. Todd and Milo had to take them away and spend half the night soothing their hurt feelings. The characters woke next morning feeling exhausted. Fiona, on the other hand, felt bright and cheerful.
  • Fiona Oooh! Oooh!
  • Ringo Starr: She tooted, as she came out of the yard and back to the station.
  • Fiona: Look at me.
  • Ringo Starr: She purred to the passengers.
  • Fiona: I'm the latest diesel, highly sprung and right up to date. You won't want Pooh's bumpy old Janna and Hope now.
  • Ringo Starr: The passengers waited for Fiona to start, but she didn't. She saw that the milk van was about to be coupled to her and was most indigment.
  • Fiona: Do they except me to pull that?
  • Fiona's Driver: Surley.
  • Ringo Starr: Said her driver.
  • Fiona's Driver: You can pull one van.
  • Fiona: I won't.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Fiona.
  • Fiona: Todd can do it. He loves messing about with pirates.
  • Ringo Starr: She began to shudder violently.
  • Fiona's Driver: Nonsense.
  • Ringo Starr: Said her driver.
  • Fiona's Driver: Come on now, back down.
  • Ringo Starr: Fiona lurched backwards. She was so cross that she blew a fuse.
  • Fiona: Told you.
  • Ringo Starr: She said and stopped. Everyone argued with her but it was no use.
  • Fiona: It's fitter's orders.
  • Ringo Starr: She said.
  • Passengers: What is?
  • Fiona: My fitter's a very nice man. He comes every week and exames me carefully. Fiona, he says, never never pull. You're highly sprung and pulling is bad for your swerves. So that's how it is.
  • Ringo Starr: Finished Fiona.
  • Stationmaster: Stuff and nonsense.
  • Ringo Starr: Said the stationmaster.
  • Shunter: I can't understand.
  • Ringo Starr: Said the shunter.
  • Shunter: Whatever made Mickey Mouse send us such a feeble...
  • Fiona: Feeble? Feeble?!
  • Ringo Starr: Spluttered Fiona.
  • Fiona: Let me...
  • Passengers: Stop arguing!
  • Ringo Starr: Grumbled the passengers.
  • Passengers: We're late already.
  • Ringo Starr: So they uncoupled the van, and Fiona purred away feeling very pleased with herself. She can now enjoyed her journey.
  • Fiona: That's a good story.
  • Ringo Starr: She chuckled.
  • Fiona: I'll do just what work I choose, and no more.
  • Ringo Starr: But she said it to herself.

Todd's Predicament

  • Ringo Starr: Fiona Von Steig's work in the countryside was full of surprises. But she was frightened to bulls and cows, and she remain very lazy and scuttled. One day, Milo brought Sashi to the station where Todd was grumbling shunting.
  • Milo: Hello, Todd. I see Fiona's left the milk behind again.
  • Todd: I had to make a special journey within I suppose. Anyone would think I've nothing to do.
  • Ringo Starr: Grumbled Todd.
  • Milo: Tell you what?
  • Ringo Starr: Replied Milo.
  • Milo: I'll take the milk, you fetch my pirates.
  • Ringo Starr: Their drivers and stationmaster agreed. Todd had never been to the quarry before. He began ordering the pirates about.
  • Todd: Hurry along.
  • Ringo Starr: He said. The pirates grumbled to each other.
  • Pirates: This is Milo's place! Todd's got no right to poke his funnel in here and push us around.
  • Ringo Starr: They whispered and pass the word.
  • Pirates: Pay Todd out! Pay Todd out!
  • Todd: Come along.
  • Ringo Starr: Puffed Todd.
  • Todd: No nonsense.
  • Pirates: We'll give him nonsense.
  • Ringo Starr: Giggled the pirates. But they followed so quietly that Todd thought they were under control. Suddenly, they saw a notice ahead: All Trains Stop To Pin Down Brakes.
  • Todd: Peep peep! Brakes, Conductor, please!
  • Ringo Starr: But before he could check them the pirates surged ahead.
  • Pirates: On! On!
  • Ringo Starr: They cried.
  • Todd: Help! Help!
  • Ringo Starr: Whistled Todd. The man on duty at the crossing rushed to warn traffic with his red flag but was too late to switch Todd to the runaway sidings. Frantically trying to grip the rails Todd slid into the yard.
  • Todd: Peep! Peep! Look out!
  • (Crash!)
  • Ringo Starr: The break van was in smithereens. Todd's driver and fireman had jumped clear but Todd was stranded. Next day, Mickey Mouse arrived. Milo and Fiona had helped to clear the wreckage but Todd remained on his perch of pirates.
  • Mickey: We must now try.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Mickey.
  • Mickey: To run a branch line with Milo and a diesel. You have put us in an awkward predicament.
  • Todd: I am sorry, sir.
  • Ringo Starr: Replied Todd.
  • Mickey: You can stay here till we are ready. Perhaps it will teach you to be careful with pirates.
  • Ringo Starr: Todd sighed. The pirates groaned beneath his shoes. He quite understood about awkward predicaments. Mickey spoke severly to Fiona too.
  • Mickey: My characters work hard. I send lazy characters away.
  • Ringo Starr: Fiona was ashamed.
  • Fiona: However, Milo says you worked hard after Todd's accident. So you shall have another chance.
  • Fiona: Thank you, sir.
  • Ringo Starr: Said Fiona.
  • Fiona: I will work hard, sir. Milo says he'll help me.
  • Mickey: Excellent. What Milo doesn't know about branch line problems isn't worth knowing. But our Milo's an experienced character.
  • Ringo Starr: Next day, Pooh came back, and Todd was sent to be mended. Janna and Hope were delighted to see Pooh again and he took them to a run at once. All were now friends, and Milo has taught Fiona a great deal. She shooed a cow all by herself the other day. That show's you, doesn't it?
