The Scimitar is the bounty hunting ship owned by Alec Tannis.
Built by Kuat Drive Yards in 21BBY, the ship is an Alpha Twelve Niner-class medium bulk freighter. It was given the registration number KYMFA12N.373 and sold to an independent dealership for third party sale on Nar Shaddaa in the Corellian district. The dealership sold exclusively to mercenaries, bounty hunters and private navies so it upgraded this class vessel with a ‘Corellian’ refit to add a second turret added to its underside, quick-drop hanger for a Z-95 Headhunter and general defence improvements.
KYMFA12N.373 was renamed The Scimitar and then quickly sold to a Nautolan bounty hunter called Teem Neo. This led to a second modification by having the fore portion of the cargo bay turned in to a prison cell for transporting live captives. The next few years were spent travelling the galaxy capturing bounties and transporting them under the command of Teem Neo until the ship was attacked. All most all the crew were killed in the attack with the exception of Alec Tannis who managed to jump the ship to safety.
Teem Neo’s will stated that ‘the longest serving surviving crew member would inherit the ship on his passing’, being the only survivor Alec was given the ship by Bespin’s Probate service. Not really wanting the ship Alec was getting ready to sell it but a mechanic called Jyot Tyrell made a made a deal that if he could improve the ship’s engines he would keep it and hire him. Jyot did his part leaving Alec little choice but to employ the mechanic, considering it’s modifications left little use for it other than as a bounty hunter’s craft.
A medium Kuat Freighter that dates back to the clone wars. It's has greatly improved Engines and shields. It has also had a second turret placed on the dorsal hull and has had part of the Cargo hold turned into a 'quick drop' Hanger for a Z-95 Headhunter (a fairly common upgrade for the class vessel). The Bridge has a small forward bridge for the captain, pilot and a passenger, This leads into the common room where food can be prepared and consumed it is also where the crew can relax and play games like Dejaric or Sabacc. The Opposite side of this is a small corridor with access to the ventral and dorsal turrets. This then leads to the engineering section. Off the corridor are 10 Sleeping Quarters for the crew and passengers. Ladders to the lower level are located in the common room and the ladders to the turret also lead to the lower level.
The lower level is one large cargo hold with catwalks along walls, The rear has a small hanger that holds the Z-95, the cockpit is accessed via the catwalks. The hanger has doors under the hunter to allow the fighter to drop out of the ship and quickly get to action. The loading ramp is on the starboard side of the ship. The forward part of the cargo hold has also been modified into a high security cell that can hold up to four human sized sentients.
