Plot

Thomas, James and Stanley were shunting trucks at Brendam Docks when The Fat Controller arrives and tells them a new engine is arriving. Then a little yellow tank engine chuffed up. The Fat Controller tells the the engines that he is called Theo. Theo is happy to meet Thomas, James and Stanley. The Fat Controller gives the engines jobs. Theo hopes for a job on his first day. But he didn't have a job yet and was told to rest at Tidmouth Sheds. He met Gordon, Henry and Percy. They said to Theo he didn't look useful and teased him. Theo was upset and chuff away sadly.
He met Thomas on the way. He told him that Henry, Gordon and Percy teased him and said that he couldn't be useful. Thomas laughed and told Theo to ignore them. Theo felt upset because he remembered an accident he had before coming to Sodor. He said he lived in Ireland until he was needed on the Mainland. Theo said he used to be bright blue like Thomas and he could not see things well. Then, when he arrived at the Mainland docks, he was about to be loaded when a crane got shocked by a loud noise and he accidently bumped Theo. He said he rolled backwards and fell into the sea. He was OK but he was left all night long. Next day, he was lifted out but was in a terrible mess. But, he wasn't scrapped and was repaired and painted yellow with a beautiful golden funnel and glasses so he could see. Thomas liked Theo's story and he chuffed happily away to deliver his passengers.
Meanwhile, Edward was crossing the Old Purple Bridge, one of Sodor's oldest bridges. Suddenly, Edward had stopped. He had run out of coal and was still on the bridge. Then, he heard a strange sound. A piece of the bridge fell into the water. Edward was worried and blew his whistle for help. Theo was the nearest engine. He heard the whistle and saw Edward stuck on the bridge and it was collapsing. Theo knew what to do. He moved quickly onto the bridge and buffered up to Edward. Then he began to push Edward across the bridge. After several tries, Theo finally pushed Edward across and the bridge collapsed, but Theo's back wheels were loose, but he pulled himself to safety and he and Edward puffed to Knapford Station.
Later, The Fat Controller and the other engines concratulate Theo for his bravey into rescuing Edward. As a reward, he could now live at Tidmouth Sheds and be part of the Steam Team. Theo was very happ and that night, he told the engines about his adventures.
