Narrator: "Bookworm repairs the roads that wind through the mountains on Acme Acres. The little worm checks that the roads, tunnels, and bridges, are all in good working order.

One day, Bookworm was crossing the old wooden bridge. There was a big bump in the path. Bookworm's animator stopped to check the bridge."

Bookworm's Animator: "There are cracks in the supports."

Narrator: "He said."

Bookworm: "Ooh, that could be dangerous!"

Narrator: "Cried Bookworm."

Bookworm: "It might fall down if it's not repaired."

Narrator: "And they hurried off to tell the other toons.

The toons were waiting for their oil when Bookworm arrived."

Bookworm: "Don't use the old wooden bridge."

Narrator: "Said Bookworm."

Bookworm: "It's Dangerous."

Omega: "How would you know?"

Narrator: "Wheeshed Omega."

Omega: "You're only a worm."

Narrator: "And he puffed crossly away. He didn't even wait for his oil.

Bookworm hurried down the mountain to tell King Acorn the bad news."

King Acorn: "Thank you."

Narrator: "Said King Acorn."

King Acorn: "I'll send animators to investigate. Meanwhile, no one is to use it."

Narrator: "Bookworm's animator put up a sign; 'Path Closed.'

The Toons had to travel a different way.

Meanwhile, Omega needed more oil to get home, but when he arrived at the Oil Depot, it was empty."

Omega: "Bother! I won't get home without more oil. Where's the nearest depot?"

Yakko: "On the other side of the old wooden bridge, but you can't cross; Bookworm says it's not safe."

Omega: "Bookworm always makes things sound worse than they are."

Omega's Animator: "I'm sure one trip across the old wooden bridge won't hurt."

Narrator: "Added his animator.

When they got to the junction, Omega's Animator removed the sign, and they set off towards the bridge. This was a big mistake.

Suddenly, Omega slowed to a halt."

Omega: "I'm out of oil!"

Narrator: "He had used up all his oil."

(A piece of the bridge splashes into the water)

Omega: "What's that?"

Narrator: "He gasped nervously.

His animator looked down. The old wooden bridge was starting to collapse!"

Yakko: "Bookworm!"

Narrator: "Called Yakko."

Yakko: "Omega's gone across the bridge!"

Bookworm: "I'd better check he's all right."

Narrator: "The little worm said.

But the cracks in the supports were getting larger. A beam snapped, timber pieces splashed into the water below."

Omega: "Help!"

Narrator: "Called Omega."

Omega: "I'm going to fall!"

Narrator: "But Bookworm was on the way.

Soon, the little worm reached the old wooden bridge. Omega had never looked so scared! Bookworm slinked bravely onto the bridge."

Omega: "Careful!"

Narrator: "Gasped Omega.

Soon, They held on."

Bookworm: "Hold on!"

Narrator: "Said Bookworm."

Omega: "Oooh!"

Narrator: "Shouted Omega.

The little worm pulled him off the bridge, just in time!"

Bookworm: "Don't use the old wooden bridge, it's dangerous!"

(The bridge breaks and falls into the water)

Narrator: "King Acorn was very cross with Omega.

King Acorn: "That was very irresponsible."

Omega: "Yes Sir, sorry Sir. And Bookworm, you were very brave."

Bookworm: "Oh, thanks!"

King Acorn: "Yes, Bookworm, you are a really useful worm!"

Bookworm: "Thank you, Sir!"

Narrator: "Bookworm felt very reliable, too."
