Wagons Not Available For A Booking
Sometimes we get an incident raised because the user cannot see a wagon (or wagons) he wants to put on a booking. There are a number of valid reasons why the wagon cannot be seen, and these should be checked before passing on to Fuj Support. These include: wagon is on a future booking; wagon does not arrive in time; wagon condition does not permit it to be added, wagon is on a booking that does not end at the location where the user wants to add it to a new booking and a loaded wagon has been unplanned detached at an intermediate location. Instructions on how to check for each of those reasons, and how to fix them are given below:
Wagon is on a future booking
A wagon cannot be added to a new booking if it is already on future bookings.
Open WDP -> Search Wagons. Enter your wagon id and Click Search. The current booking for the wagon will be displayed in the wagon list. If the wagon is not on a current booking the booking id, transit leg and train details will be blank. Note the current booking id, then click on the Bookings button. The Wagon Booking Details form will open and have a list of bookings. If there are any bookings in the list above the current booking, those are the future bookings. If the wagon does not have a current booking, the date from and date to columns will indicate any future bookings.
The assignment of the wagon to any future bookings may be valid. It should be the responsibility of the user to remove the wagon from the future bookings if the wagon really is required for the new booking. Please note that the future bookings are not valid if the origin of the next booking does not match the destination of the prior booking. If there are any gaps, the wagon must be removed from the future booking. It can be put back on again after the wagon has been planned to reach the origin of the future booking.
Wagon does not arrive in time
When a wagon is put on a booking, it is required for that booking from a date/ time to a date/time. The required to date/time is calculated when the Add Wagons form is opened, and is applied to all the wagons that are added to the booking. It is not updated by actual train running, so if the train is arriving early the wagon may not show to be added to the next booking because the required from date/time of the new booking is after the required to date/time of the old booking, even though the wagon is going to arrive before the required from date/time of the new booking.
Open ATR -> Wagon enquiry. Search for your wagon. When it displays, click Show RS Task. When the Show Wagon Task form is displayed, note the train that takes the wagon to the location at the top of the list. Open the Train performance form for the train. Note the planned time the train is planned to arrive at the wagon detach location. This will be the required to date/time of the current booking. Open the Add Wagons form for the new booking and check the required from date/time of the new booking. If it is before the required to date/time of the current booking the wagon is not available.
There are a couple of ways to fix this problem:
If the train for the current booking is running early, entering an actual arrival date/time at the wagon booking destination will update the required to date/time to the actual arrival date/time.
Or the planned departure time of the train for the new booking can be adjusted to be after the required to date/time of the arriving wagons. This has to be done through STP – ATR only updates the estimated date/times, not the planned date/times.
Wagon condition does not permit it to be added
Open ATR Wagon enquiry. Search for your wagon. When it displays, check its current condition. Only conditions of Operational, Green carded or Preventive maintenance (PM, P1, P3, P5) are allowed for wagon bookings. If the wagon has any other condition, it cannot be added to a booking.
If there is a problem about when the condition was applied, click Maintain RS Cond. The effective date /time is when the current condition was applied. Note that most wagon conditions should be changed in RMS, not TMS. It should only be done in TMS if the wagon is not maintained by PNL.
Wagon is on a booking that does not end at the location
Open WDP -> Search Wagons. Enter your wagon id and Click Search. The current booking for the wagon will be displayed in the wagon list. The current booking for the wagon will be listed. Click on the booking and then Delivery Plan. The wagon booking form will open, and the origin and destination will be displayed. The wagon will not be available for the new booking unless the booking destination is the new booking origin. A wagon will not be available at an intermediate location even if it changes train there.
Loaded wagon has been unplanned detached at an intermediate location
Open WDP -> Search Wagons. Enter your wagon id and Click Search. The current booking for the wagon will be displayed in the wagon list. The current booking for the wagon will be listed. Click on the booking and then Delivery Plan. The wagon booking form will open. Click on the Wagon Load tab. Find the wagon in the list of wagons. If the wagon has a load date/time and no unload date/time, the wagon is still loaded. It must be either a) unplanned attached to the new train if load details are required to be kept, or b) an unload date/time entered if the wagon has been if the load details are not to be carried forward to the next train. Note: unloading a wagon cannot be undone, so make sure the user is very clear on whether the freight details are required to be carried forward or not before unloading it!
