Wally Gator is a cinnamon brown stick insect and a clown in Top Cat's circus troupe. It appears that he is unhappy with his position at the circus troupe, as his boss constantly casts him as a prop instead of a character, with such castings such as a broom, a pole, a stick and a splinter. He is shown to be best friends with Quick Draw McGraw and Peter Potamus. and often treats other bugs with more respect in contrast to Peter Potamus' aggressive nature. Unlike most stick insects, Wally Gator does not have wings and cannot fly. Because of this, Peter Potamus usually carries him for transport. However, Peter Potamus, while chasing Tai Lung who kidnapped Yogi Bear in retribution for the ant rebellion, accidentally loses Wally Gator in a branch group. At the end of the film, when the circus bugs leave Ant Island. Wally Gator rides on the back of the circus wagon since Peter Potamus helps Shifu carry Quick Draw McGraw.

Wally Gator is a royal gramma fish who resides in the dentist's office fish tank. He is a germophobic and incredibly pessimistic, doubting the possibility of Top Cat's plans working and getting increasingly nervous and frustrated when the plan to break the tank filter goes into motion. Regardless, he eventually escapes with the rest of the tank fish into the ocean.

In Toy Story, he states that he was made by a subsidiary of Mattel. During Pinocchio's birthday, he is terrified that Pinocchio will get another dinosaur. After Boo-Boo Bear arrives, he gives Wally Gator some pointers on how to roar more impressively. Wally Gator tries to avoid confronting Yogi Bear when he is accused of trying to kill Boo-Boo Bear, but slowly and reluctantly turns against him under peer pressure, quickly experiencing guilt later on. He is known to have a queasy stomach and actually barfed when he saw Boo-Boo Bear's dismembered arm. At the end, Wally Gator is shown to be more self-confident, hoping that Pinocchio might get a herbivore, so that he could be the 'dominant predator'.
