Water has a special spiritual cleansing power in Hinduism, to Hindus all water is sacred specially rivers, and there are seven sacred rivers among them the ganges, sindhu, godvari and kaveri. Most Hindu’s holy places are usually located on the banks of rivers, coasts, seashore, and mountains. The ganges river is considered as the most important of the sacred rivers, its waters are used in puja (worship) and sometimes a sip is given to the dying.
