[edit] Treatment
Dose-Intensification for Pediatric Patients:
- Induction phase where three 5-day intensive sessions of chemotherapy over the course of six weeks.
- Local control phase with possible surgery or radiation for week 9-17.
- Maintenance phase for weeks 20-44 which consists of adminstering alternating drug therapies every three weeks.
Surgery
- Biopsy
- Hickman line
Chemotherapy
- Three cycles of ifosfamide 2 g/m2/d and etoposide 150 mg/m2/d administered intravenously on days 1 to 3,
- followed by CTX (cyclophosphamide) 1.5 g/m2 and doxorubicin 45 mg/m2 IV on day 5.
- Patients receive 5 hours of posthydration fluids with a solution of dextrose 5% in water with 0.5 normal saline iafter ifosfamide and 24 hours of posthydration fluids after CTX.
- Additionally, patients receive mesna at 25% of the oxazaphosphorine dose administered immediately and at 3 and 6 hours postdose.
- Twenty-four hours after chemotherapy, patients start granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) 10 ug/kg/dose for 10 to 14 days or until the ANC is 10.0 X 10 9/L or greater.

Alternative Therapy
- Chinese medicine of herbs and acupuncture to help with fluid retention and swelling.
