The Ximegan are a humanoid race native to Arbi's deep oceans, the Ximegan were distinguished by their helmet-shaped heads and the mass of tentacles located below their close-set eyes. The Ximegan were more accustomed to deep-sea living, and chose to live below the water. Although it has never been scientifically proven that the Ximegan evolved from squid-like creatures, their appearance and the fact that they could squirt ink into the water when startled pointed to a similarity between them. Their conservative and solitary nature led them to be unwilling to trust new ideas or lofty concepts. When they first came in contact with the shore-dwelling Na'arbi who shared their homeworld, the Ximegan were hesitant. They eventually began to cooperate with the Na'arbi, and together they developed a symbiotic relationship in which the Ximegan provide the raw materials, and the Na'arbi provide the knowledge and expertise; this led to the construction of the huge floating cities that dominate Arbi's oceans. Because of their pragmatic nature, the Ximegan did not want to travel and explore the stars, as the Mon Cal did, and this began to create friction between the two races.
